Well-known Australian writer, broadcaster, academic and political commentator, Professor Ross Fitzgerald writes a regular column for The Weekend Australian newspaper and for The Spectator Australia, reviews for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Weekend Australian and regularly appears on ABC Radio, ABCTV, and on Channel 7.

He is currently a member of the New South Wales State Parole Authority; of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal; and of the NSW Government Expert Advisory Group on Drugs and Alcohol.

Emeritus Professor in History and Politics at Griffith University, Ross Fitzgerald has published thirty-two books.  These include ‘The Pope’s Battalions: Santamaria, Catholicism and the Labor Split’, published by University of Queensland Press, and ‘Growing Old (Dis) Gracefully: 35 Australians Reflect on Life over 50’,coedited with his wife Lyndal Moor which was published in 2008 by ABC Books.

In 2009 Ross co-authored ‘Made in Queensland: A New History’, published by University of Queensland Press, and ‘Under the Influence: a history of alcohol in Australia’ published by ABC Books/Harper Collins.

Up to now, his two best selling books are ‘The Footy Club’, and another book about Aussie Rules football, ‘The Greatest Game’. But this is about to change.

In February 2010 New South Press published MY NAME IS ROSS: AN ALCOHOLIC’S JOURNEY which has received extremely favourable reviews.

Professor Fitzgerald is co-producer and script editor of “The Test” an Indian-Australian feature film being produced with Jim McElroy at Fox Studios Sydney.
He is also co-producer with Ian McFadyen of “Kerensky and Nelle” – a movie about Alexander Kerensky and Nelle Tritton.

In 2010 Ross is also releasing two co-authored books. The first is a biography of Alan (‘the Red Fox’) Reid, Pressman Par Excellence, to be published in June by University of New South Wales Press. The second is another Grafton Everest fiction, Fools’ Paradise: Life in an Altered State, to be published in September 2010 by Press On Publishing.
