{"id":1749,"date":"2018-03-22T16:55:49","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T05:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/annual-alcohol-poll-attitudes-behaviours\/"},"modified":"2018-03-22T16:55:49","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T05:55:49","slug":"annual-alcohol-poll-attitudes-behaviours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/annual-alcohol-poll-attitudes-behaviours\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Alcohol Poll \u2013 Attitudes &#038; Behaviours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-size-adjust: auto; text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">FARE&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vic.us16.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=702255553dd01586b30cca5a0&amp;id=c2842f7ac5&amp;e=dc9e6f9031\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 Annual alcohol poll: Attitudes and behaviours<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">The Poll is now in its ninth year of publication and explores Australia\u2019s attitudes towards alcohol, drinking behaviours, awareness and experience of alcohol harm, and opinions on alcohol policies.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Key findings this year include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li>Fewer than half than half of Australians are aware of the link between alcohol misuse and stroke&nbsp;(38%), mouth and throat cancer&nbsp;(26%)&nbsp;and breast cancer&nbsp;(16%).<\/li>\n<li>70%&nbsp;of Australians indicate that they are aware of&nbsp;the Australian Guidelines to Reduce Health Risks from Drinking Alcohol, but only&nbsp;28%&nbsp;are also aware of the content.<\/li>\n<li>84%&nbsp;of people think Australians have the right to know about the long-term harms associated with regular alcohol use.<\/li>\n<li>80%&nbsp;of Australians think governments have a responsibility to educate Australians about long\u2011term harms associated with regular alcohol use.<\/li>\n<li>61%&nbsp;of Australians believe that the alcohol industry would downplay independent university research findings linking alcohol consumption to a range of harms such as cancer and family violence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The report, along with a series of short videos, is available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vic.us16.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=702255553dd01586b30cca5a0&amp;id=b45a09842f&amp;e=dc9e6f9031\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.fare.org.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FARE&nbsp;2018 Annual alcohol poll: Attitudes and behaviours.
