So, when pro-pot people came up the idea \u201cRegulate Marijuana like Alcohol,\u201d they should have known that part of the plan would not be successful either.&nbsp; Just ask any teacher in Colorado. As propagandists push marijuana to achieve equality with alcohol in American life, here\u2019s a look at how they compare:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">According to a report in 2015, 30 % of marijuana users in the United States qualify as having Cannabis Use Disorder, vs. 10-20% of those of drinkers who are alcoholics.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/health.ucdavis.edu\/welcome\/features\/2015-2016\/03\/20160323_cannabis-alcohol-study.html\">A study from the University California, Davis<\/a>found that in terms of downward social class mobility, financial difficulties, antisocial behaviors in the workplace and relationship conflict, cannabis dependence was worse than alcohol dependence.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">With THC (most psychoactive part of pot) as high as it is today, there is no equivalent to dope that is like beer or wine. Since competition between growers has created the higher THC,&nbsp; consumers won\u2019t go back to the weak, old-fashioned pot that was in existence before the \u201cmedical marijuana\u201d scam was introduced in the mid-90s. Average THC in Colorado is 20% vs. 1-3% in \u201970s.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Frequent users of marijuana are more likely to have a-motivational syndrome, compared to frequent drinkers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Students who are heavy weed users are much more likely to drop out of school than students who drink heavily.&nbsp; After all, weed is nicknamed \u201cdope\u201d for a reason.&nbsp; According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lanpsy\/article\/PIIS2215-0366(14)70307-4\/fulltext\">a major study in the Lancet Psychiatry Journal<\/a>, frequent cannabis users are 60% more likely to drop out of high school than non-users.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Teens who use marijuana are&nbsp;<strong>3x more likely to overdose<\/strong>on other drugs such as heroin; teens who use alcohol are&nbsp;<strong>2x more at risk for overdose<\/strong>&nbsp;with other drugs.&nbsp; While marijuana may not be a \u201cgateway\u201d for every young person who does pot, the risk of leapfrogging to other drugs is greater for those who use marijuana.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Both are readily available to children and teens. Pot is more available in marijuana states, as the parents may have it at home.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Both are dangerous for driving, and both have&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/poppot.org\/2015\/08\/03\/is-stoned-driving-an-alternative-to-drunk-driving\/\">led to traffic fatalities, particularly when the drivers are age 25<\/a>and under.&nbsp;&nbsp; Looking at the absolute evidence takes away any need for studies to show that&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/poppot.org\/2015\/07\/28\/marijuana-and-pedestrians-cyclists-not-safe\/\">driving stoned is dangerous.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Marijuana stays in system longer, up to a month and even more for chronic users, while alcohol goes out of the system in 24 hours.&nbsp; Some marijuana users experience flashbacks which can be very dangerous while driving or when they come on unexpectedly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There are high-functioning alcoholics and there are regular marijuana users who hold jobs and function reasonably well.&nbsp; The latter is less frequent, and those who manage well tend to give an erroneous impression to others who become addicted quickly and show a greater impairment from using pot.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Both marijuana and alcohol are depressants.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Marijuana causes paranoia, anxiety and mental health problems at much higher rates than alcohol. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/All_Young_Cannabis_Users_Face_Psychosis_RiskMedscape2018.pdf\">(All Young Cannabis User Face Psychosis Risk \u2013 Medscape)<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Marijuana advocates claim it is \u201charmless\u201d and \u201cnot addictive,\u201d both false claims.&nbsp; They also claim to drive better while stoned.&nbsp; Drinkers, on average, are not so delusional in claiming that alcohol is harmless and non-addictive.&nbsp; Individual problem drinkers may deny that&nbsp;<em>they<\/em>have a problem, while pot activists deny&nbsp;<em>marijuana<\/em>&nbsp;is a problem.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Binge drinking in very, very heavy doses can lead to death. While marijuana doesn\u2019t go into the brain stem, in heavy doses it can lead to psychosis.&nbsp; Pot has been known to cause death for those who have a psychotic reaction to marijuana, or heart arrhythmia or cannabis hyperemesis syndrome and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobrainer.org.au\/index.php\/teacher-tools\/get-a-clue-dope\/431-marijuana-related-suicided-of-young-people-in-colorado\">suicide<\/a> (See also \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/X8812mt__qo\">Cannabis Doesn\u2019t Kill???)<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You can\u2019t smoke or vape alcohol, so it doesn\u2019t carry the sames risks to your lungs that marijuana does.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Marijuana doesn\u2019t cause a hangover \u2013 It does and rates as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drugrehab.com\/addiction\/drugs\/marijuana\/hangover\/\">crapulous &nbsp;<\/a> Weed Hangover varies, and just because in some cased is may not be as onerous as \u2018booze bender blow back\u2019 doesn\u2019t make it \u2018better\u2019 \u2013 Simple answer, Just don\u2019t drink or drink less.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-2455\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/AStonedWorkerIsASafetyHazard.jpg\" alt=\"AStonedWorkerIsASafetyHazard\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/AStonedWorkerIsASafetyHazard.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/AStonedWorkerIsASafetyHazard-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/AStonedWorkerIsASafetyHazard-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">For another view of this issue,<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2016\/09\/25\/lie-travels-comparing-alcohol-marijuana\/\">When a Lie Travels: Comparing Alcohol to Marijuana<\/a>.&nbsp; And<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/poppot.org\/2014\/07\/08\/marijuana-vs-alcohol\/\">Marijuana vs. Alcohol.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">No one is forced or compelled to drink, another falsehood promoted by the marijuana lobby.&nbsp; Many adults choose not to drink or do any drugs.&nbsp;&nbsp; More power to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Former Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman said legalization <strong><em>\u201cwasn\u2019t worth it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp; Colorado\u2019s former governor John Hickenlooper said that legalization was <strong><em>\u201creckless.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp; In the state of Washington the number of crashes involving marijuana-impaired drivers doubled after legalization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">About 10-14% of the US uses marijuana, compared to up to 60% of adults who use alcohol.&nbsp; Evidence shows that marijuana users drink more alcohol, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, let\u2019s be clear, this is far from a \u2018better\u2019 option to booze \u2013 it is the opposite.
