{"id":3302,"date":"2022-07-20T16:34:48","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T06:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/bombshell-alcohol-study-finds-only-risks-zero-benefits-for-anyone-under-the-age-of-40\/"},"modified":"2025-11-10T12:45:30","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T01:45:30","slug":"bombshell-alcohol-study-finds-only-risks-zero-benefits-for-anyone-under-the-age-of-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dalgarnoinstitute.org.au\/wp_site\/bombshell-alcohol-study-finds-only-risks-zero-benefits-for-anyone-under-the-age-of-40\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombshell alcohol study finds only risks, zero benefits for anyone under the age of 40!\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/author\/chloe-taylor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CHLOE TAYLOR<\/strong><\/a>, July 16, 2022&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People under the age of 40 start risking their health if they consume any more than two teaspoons of wine or two and a half tablespoons of beer per day, a new study suggests.<\/p>\n<p>The analysis\u2014part of the wider&nbsp;<em>Global Burden of Disease<\/em>&nbsp;study\u2014was funded by the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation and&nbsp;<a href=\"#seccestitle140\" target=\"_blank\">published in&nbsp;<em>published in&nbsp;The Lancet&nbsp;medical journal<\/em>medical journal<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>It found that for young adults between the ages of 15 and 39, there were zero health benefits\u2014only risks\u2014associated with drinking alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers said that for people aged between 15 and 39, the recommended amount of alcohol that could be consumed before risking their health was \u201ca little more than one-tenth of a standard drink.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They defined a standard drink as 3.4 fluid ounces of red wine or 12 fluid ounces of beer.<\/p>\n<p>By this definition, the study\u2019s findings suggested that alcohol stops being \u201csafe\u201d to consume for under-40s after around two teaspoons of red wine or two and a half tablespoons of beer.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Global Burden of Disease<\/em>&nbsp;study is massive in scope.
