This creates an imbalance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/307076\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">central nervous system<\/a>, which affects sensory perception. Experts believe that similar changes in NMDA receptors could be linked to perception changes in schizophrenia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><br \/>They found that ketamine increased \u201cbackground noise\u201d in the brain, making sensory signals less defined or pronounced.
