Cannabis as Pain & Addiction Substitute – The Evidence

The National Academy of Sciences, International Association for the Study of Pain, and other experts have concluded that jurisdiction regulations that allow medical cannabis as an opioid substitute for chronic pain or addiction have at best equivocal evidence regarding safety, efficacy, and comparative effectiveness, and substantial evidence that substituting opioid addiction treatments with cannabis is potentially harmful.
